The current generation of the well-known luxury SUV was introduced with the 2021 model year and if we look at the sales numbers, it’s easy to conclude that GM did a pretty good job with this redesign. The new model looks way better and feels more refined than before. However, that doesn’t mean that we won’t be seeing updates in the near future. Instead, big novelties are coming already with the 2023 Cadillac Escalade, which is about to get a high-performance version. Other than that, most of the things should remain pretty much the same as in the current model.
All in all, you may count on an excellent SUV, which comes with a super-luxurious cabin that offers tremendous amounts of passenger and cargo space. We also like the long list of standard and available equipment, as well as the offer of two capable powertrain options. Furthermore, the diesel version offers excellent fuel economy for the class.
We expect that the 2023 Cadillac Escalade will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year.
2023 Cadillac Escalade-V
There is no doubt that this is going to be the biggest novelty for the next year. The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V will be a high-performance version of the SUV, which will come with all kinds of upgrades. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the engine. We are about to see a well-known LT4 engine, which is a supercharged version of the well-known 6.2-liter V8. The same engine is used for the CT5-V Blackwing and we presume that the output could remain the same. That would mean a max power of 668 horses and 659 pound-feet of torque.
Other upgrades are about to come as well. Of course, we are talking about styling upgrades, which will accentuate the model’s high-performance character. We expect mechanical upgrades as well, in terms of new suspension, brakes etc.
2023 Cadillac Escalade Design
Other than that 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V, things should remain pretty much the same. So, the next-year model would continue with a familiar design, based on GM’s new T1 platform. The Escalade offers a smooth and refined ride, thanks to the advanced suspension setup. It looks amazing as well, which is no wonder, considering that it features aesthetics that are heavily based on the Escala concept car.
Things are as impressive on the inside. The current Escalade looks great, not just because of those massive screens and other tech features, but also because of excellent build quality and top-notch materials. Furthermore, the cabin is cavernous. It offers tons of passenger space and accommodates adults in all three rows with ease. Finally, the cargo area offers class-leading numbers. You may count on about 25.5 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 72.9 cubic feet with the third-row seats folded down, and 121 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. If that’s not enough for you, there is also a stretched version, with a total cargo capacity of 142.8 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
Features
We presume that a couple of novelties in this aspect could come. Still, most of the things should remain the same. So, base models will continue with goodies like tri-zone climate control, a 7.2-inch digital control panel, a 14.2-inch digital gauge cluster, a 16.9-inch touch screen, navigation, a 19-speaker AKG Studio stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Among upgrades, expect to find things like a 36-speaker AKG Studio Reference stereo, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 12.6-inch touch screens, as well as a panoramic sunroof and a center console refrigerator.
When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, parking sensors, surround-view camera etc.
2023 Cadillac Escalade Engines
While the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V is about to get the LT4 engine, the rest of the offer will remain the same. Therefore, you may count on a well-known 6.2-liter V8, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission and offers pretty good overall performance.
However, this engine is quite thirsty, as it returns around 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. Therefore, you may consider a diesel version, which uses a 3.0-liter inline-six with a max output of 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to the massive torque, it moves this large SUV with authority, while the fuel economy is at a high level as well. It returns around 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. That’s impressive for a full-size SUV.
2023 Cadillac Escalade Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2023 Cadillac Escalade in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 78.000 dollars. The new Escalade-V will probably go around 125.000 dollars. Models like Lincoln Navigator, Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7 will remain some of the key competitors.
