2025 Nissan Patrol Changes and New Model

Patrol is one of the largest SUVs outside the US and Nissan is ready to redesign the vehicle extremely popular in Southeast Asia and Australia. According to hints from our sources, the fresh look is not the only thing that should draw attention. The new engine will also be under the spotlight. The 2025 Nissan Patrol is about to replace a V8 with a turbocharged V6 engine.

We are monitoring the situation about the Armada, the US version of the full-size SUV. It is also going through a redesign process, but the Patrol fans unveiled more details about its favorite vehicle. From the US information is coming about the premium Infiniti QX80. Nissan is putting more effort into the luxury segment. The Monograph concept will underpin the QX80 and we hope to see some of the solutions on Armada and Patrol.

Goodbye V8

2025 Nissan Patrol Replaces V8 With V6 Engine

Ford already dropped a V8 configuration from most of its SUVs and trucks. Only high-end performance setups use big rigs. Nissan’s biggest rival, Toyota, did the same on the Land Cruiser and Lexus LX premium SUV. Instead of one of the most durable and reliable engines you could find in the market, these vehicles are now using a turbocharged V6. Horsepower and torque are even better, as well as the fuel economy. Of course, buyers will complain about turbo lags and a few other things, but they will forget about a V8 in a few years.

Patrol is a bit late with this update, but better late than never. A turbocharged V6 can replace a larger unit if engineers manage to provide reliability and durability. Turbochargers will squeeze extra power, which is needed to move the big rig around smoothly. A new transmission is also on the way instead of a 7-speed auto gearbox.

The 2025 Nissan Patrol might also get a hybrid version. Such configurations are not so strange nowadays, and slowly all big vehicles segments are implementing the new technology. It is a step in the evolution that leads to complete electrification and zero-emission power sources. However, none of these is likely for the 2025 season.

Redesign

The big SUV is pretty old. The company updated it a couple of times, but the upcoming edition will be all-new. The 2025 Nissan Patrol introduces the seventh generation not only with new engines but also a fresh look. We have a few concepts and renders, but test mules are not on the streets yet. The Monograph concept is about to debut with the Infiniti QX80. Of course, Patrol and Armada are not luxury SUVs, but some solutions can be carried over.

Since efficiency is the key, besides a smaller and potentially hybrid engine, the SUV should be more aesthetic. On the other hand, full-size models need to be bold, and there is no better way to draw attention than with a size. The new 2025 Nissan Patrol might be even bigger than it is now. An extended version with a long wheelbase and more space in the back is also possible.
