2024 Nissan Pathfinder: Hybrid Powertrain on the Way?

1420 0

Nissan’s mid-size SUV has just been redesigned and if we consider all the novelties that were introduced with the new model, it’s pretty obvious that we won’t be seeing bigger changes in the following years. Therefore, the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder, which will represent the third production year of the generation, will also be a typical carryover model. We expect to see a familiar design, though there are sources that suggest a couple of interesting updates. That particularly refers to the powertrain, as there are reports that suggest this SUV could get a hybrid powertrain soon.

Such a powertrain option would certainly make this SUV even better, especially in terms of efficiency and overall performance. On the other hand, the overall layout would remain the same, so we would see familiar pros and cons. This SUV has a lot of great things to offer, starting from a high-quality interior, comfortable ride, efficient powertrain etc.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the new model is very fresh, so we expect that the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder will be a typical carryover mode. We expect to see the same design, which is still based on the good-old D platform, though significantly updated and upgraded. The ride quality is very good, especially if comfort is your main concern. On the other hand, the vehicle would use a little bit more athleticism, while the feel of the steering wheel is probably the weakest point of this SUV, regarding ride quality.

Visually, there is nothing to complain about. The SUV looks modern and attractive, adapted to the brand’s latest design language. So, we expect the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder to carry on in the same way, though there is always room for minor updates, such as new colors, new appearance packages etc.

Interior

The cabin design is definitely one of the strongest points of the new-generation Pathfinder. Simply, everything looks very upscale, starting from the aesthetics, which work very well in a combination with modern tech features and other convenience features. Furthermore, the materials are really nice, while you can also notice a lot of attention to detail.

Of course, the amount of passenger and cargo space won’t change. You may count on the same layout, which offers three rows of seats and a capacity of seven. The front seats are massive and supportive, some of the best in this class. The second row is as spacious and comfortable, while the third row is typically tight and works primarily for kids.

The cargo area offers around 16.6 cubic feet behind the third row, 45 cubic feet behind the second row and 80.5 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. Those are pretty much average ratings for the class, but key players like Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot offer more space.

Features

A couple of features may be added to the list of standard equipment but we have no doubt that most things will remain the same. Therefore, we expect to see base models equipped with goodies like keyless entry, tri-zone climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo. Among optional features, expect to find goodies like remote start, panoramic sunroof, a 9-inch touch screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, two additional USB ports, a 13-speaker Bose sound system, and wireless device charging.

The same is with safety features. So, base models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic high beams etc. Also, there are optional safety features like Nissan ProPilot, surround-view camera system, head-up display, road sign recognition etc.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Engine

Things under the hood definitely won’t change. We will see the same, good-old 3.5-liter V6, which puts out around 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to ensure smooth and convenient ride. Also, there is a new 9-speed automatic transmission, which does a great job and provides much better driving experience compared to the previous generation that was equipped with a CVT.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Base models come with front-wheel drive, while AWD is available. When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway which are typical ratings for the class.

Some sources also speculate about the hybrid version, which would use the company’s new ePOWER system. In such a setup,  a couple of electric motors would power the wheels, while the gasoline engine would serve as a power generator and charge the battery.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder will arrive sometime in the second half of 2023, with a starting price of around 35.000 dollars.
