Audi’s flagship SUV has been around since 2018 and the latest reports suggest that the Ingolstadt company plans to keep it in production for a few more years before it gets a full redesign. To keep it fresh in the following years, the German manufacturer will probably have to make a mid-cycle update, so it’s no wonder that many sources suggest such a move for the 2024 Audi Q8. At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation.
Considering that the officials are still quiet, it’s still hard to talk about details. Still, we may presume that the core of this update would be an aesthetical refresh. We would expect to see some changes regarding styling, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t be seeing interior updates as well, especially in terms of new tech features. Under the hood, most of the current units will remain on offer, but we wouldn’t be surprised if we see some additions to the powertrain lineup.
The refreshed 2024 Audi Q8 should arrive sometime in the second half of 2023.
2024 Audi Q8 Design
The 2024 Audi Q8 is still waiting for the official confirmation of the refresh. Still, that doesn’t mean that we can’t speculate about the possible changes. If the company is willing to update this model, we are pretty sure it will focus on aesthetics. In other words, we count on styling updates. Naturally, most of the changes would come to the front end, in areas like bumper, grille, headlights etc. However, keep in mind that Audi is one of the most conservative companies around when it comes to aesthetical changes, so these modifications would certrainly be very subtle.
Of course, we would also see changes in terms of new color options, new wheels and similar things. On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle would probably remain unchanged, which isn’t a bad thing at all. Namely, the current model already offers a pretty good driving experience, thanks to the great balance between comfort and athleticism.
Interior
We believe that the 2024 Audi Q8 interior won’t change much. Most of the cabin design will remain the same, though there is always room for updates in terms of new materials, new color schemes and similar things. Also, we wouldn’t be surprised to see new tech features, such as a larger infotainment screen, upgraded digital instrument cluster etc.
Still, the overall cabin layout shouldn’t change. We count on the same configuration, which brings two quite spacious rows of seats. This SUV accommodates up to five adults and we can say that both rows are generous with space. The cargo area offers around 30.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 60.7 cubic feet behind the first row, which is about average for the segment.
Features
We expect that this update will also bring novelties regarding the standard and available equipment. Still, it’s hard to expect much, considering that the current model already comes with lots of features. Namely, the current model already comes standard with goodies like 10.1- and 8.6-inch touch screens, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, HD Radio, satellite radio, a 10-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, four USB ports, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, keyless entry, push-button start, tri-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.
We presume that some of the currently optional features may become standard. Those could be things like quad-zone automatic climate control, rear sunshades, power soft-close doors, premium 17- or 23-speaker audio system etc.
The same thing is with safety features, as the current model already comes equipped fairly well. All models come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams etc.
2024 Audi Q8 Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, the current powertrain options will carry on. So, base models will feature a 3.0-liter turbo V6 with 335 horsepower. Of course, the good-old 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 will be also offered. It comes in two variants, where the less powerful unit is reserved for the SQ8 model and puts out 500 horsepower. On the other hand, the RS Q8 features a max output of 591 horsepower and needs just 3.7 seconds to hit 60 mph.
When it comes to fuel economy, the base V6 returns around 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The V8 is good for about 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.
Some sources also suggest a plug-in hybrid powertrain to come. The officials are still quiet on this matter but we presume that the 2024 Audi Q8 PHEV would use the same system as VW Touareg and Audi Q7, with a combined output of 462 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
2024 Audi Q8 Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2024 Audi Q8 sometime in the second half of 2023, with a starting price of around 73.000 dollars. Of course, models like BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe will remain the key competitors.
