2024 Audi Q7 Redesign: What We Know So Far

1308 0

Although carmakers are focused on electric cars these days, there is still plenty of time for internal combustion units. That’s why the Ingolstadt company is working on the next generation of its popular mid-size SUV. Allegedly, the 2024 Audi Q7 is about to come in the next year, with all kinds of changes and updates. This should be the last generation of Q7 with internal combustion engines. After that, things will go fully electric.

The current generation of this three-row crossover has been around for about eight years and it definitely needs updates. Therefore, the upcoming redesign will bring all kinds of changes. We expect to see new styling, along with the new interior design. On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle should bring mostly evolutionary changes. The platform should remain the same, as well as most of the engine lineup.

The third-generation 2024 Audi Q7 should arrive sometime in the second half of 2023.

As we’ve just mentioned, this redesign is about to bring a lot of changes but many of them will be evolutionary. This particularly refers to the mechanics. Soon enough, Audi’s lineup will be completely electrified, so there is no use in developing a new platform for ICE cars. Instead, the new 2024 Audi Q7 will continue to ride on the good-old MLB platform. However, that doesn’t mean that we won’t be seeing updates.

The new model will be updated mechanically in many ways. One of the first things that come to mind is the chassis and suspension setup. We count on a new setup and once again, all models will come standard with air suspension, which should improve the ride quality even more.

On the other hand, the current model is eight years old, so we have no doubt that the German company will bring a completely new, more attractive styling. We presume that Audi designers will once again combine elegant and conservative design solutions, something that shaped so many generations of Audi models.

The overall shape shouldn’t change much and the next generation should keep similar dimensions to the current model. For reference, the ongoing Q7 measures 117.9 inches in wheelbase and nearly 199 inches in total length. It is 77.5 inches wide and 68.5 inches high.

Interior

Unlike the exterior, the inside of this SUV doesn’t look all that old, despite the age. Moreover, numerous tech features and fine materials make it look very competitive. That’s why we don’t expect to see radical changes. Once again, Audi will implement conservative aesthetics, which work great in a combination with advanced tech goodies, which should be even more numerous this time.

New tech features, new materials and new aesthetics are things we expect to see in the new model. On the other hand, the fact that exterior dimensions probably won’t change much clearly indicates that the amount of passenger space is about to remain similar. Therefore, we expect that the new Q7 will also come in a three-row seating configuration. Once again, the third row will probably be very tight and mostly for kids. On the other hand, the first and the second rows will be very spacious and comfortable.

The current generation is strong in many fields but its cargo area is among the smallest in the segment. That’s why we hope that the new model could bring some improvements in this aspect.

2024 Audi Q7 Engines

As we already mentioned, this will be the last Q7 with internal combustion engines. Therefore, we presume that most of the current powertrain options will carry over. However, most of them will get a mild-hybrid setup, which would improve efficiency and driving dynamics. Therefore, base modes should continue with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which currently puts out 261 horsepower. The 3.0-liter V6 should also be offered, though we won’t be surprised if we see a little bit more power than the current 335 horses.

Finally, there is the good-old 4.0-liter twin-turbo, as well as a couple of plug-in hybrid versions. The plug-in hybrid systems will probably be updated but we don’t expect radical changes. Currently, there are two systems of this kind, both based on a 3.0-liter V6 engine. One of them puts out around 376 horsepower, while the other is good for about 450 horses.

All units will come coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2024 Audi Q7 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Audi Q7 will arrive sometime in the second half of 2023. The current model starts at around 60.000 dollars, while the next generation will probably come with a slight price increase. The competition will remain largely the same, primarily in the form of German rivals, such as the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.
