Audi’s compact crossover is about to receive a full redesign soon. According to the latest reports, that will happen already in the next year, when we expect to see the all-new 2024 Audi Q5. This overhaul is about to bring a lot of novelties but if we can trust our sources, most of the changes will be evolutionary. The reason is the fact that this will be the last generation to feature internal-combustion engines. After that, the Q5 will also go all-electric.
In any case, there are many new things to come, starting from new styling, new interior design and more. Of course, we count on all kinds of new tech features but on the other hand, the platform will remain the same, though this doesn’t necessarily mean that we won’t see chassis upgrades etc. When it comes to the powertrain, most of the current units will carry over, though we count on various forms of electrification as well.
The all-new 2024 Audi Q5 should arrive sometime in the second half of 2023.
2024 Audi Q5 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, this redesign is about to bring a lot of novelties. From what we can see, the new generation is in the advanced stage of development. The test mule has been spotted for a couple of times and even though it still wears camouflage, we can see that most of the design process has been done.
The test mule may be covered but we can clearly see that the overall shape won’t change much. The silhouette looks pretty similar to the outgoing generation. Moreover, it looks like the overall size won’t change much. We are about to see similar dimensions, though the new model will come with a more muscular body, as well as a completely new front-end design. We can see through the camouflage that the new grille and headlights will take a bit of inspiration from e-tron models.
On the other hand, mechanical changes will be evolutionary. The 2024 Audi Q5 will continue to ride on the MLB platform but that doesn’t mean we won’t see any novelties. We expect to see an updated chassis, with a more refined suspension setup, which would help Audi keep pace with key rivals in terms of ride quality. This particularly refers to the rear suspension, which currently includes some pretty rudimental technical solutions.
Naturally, we also count on lots of novelties on the inside. If you look at the outgoing model, everything feels put well together. The overall build quality is excellent but somehow, the cabin is missing something. We presume it misses modern aesthetics, so that should be one of the focus points of Audi designers. The new generation should feature nicer aesthetics, though it won’t necessarily change the company’s typical design approach, which is mostly about conservative styling solutions, combined with high-quality materials.
The cabin will also come filled with all kinds of advanced tech solutions. You may count on various screens, connectivity features, safety systems and many more. As the new generation will probably feature similar dimensions to the current model, we presume that the amount of cabin space will also remain similar. Therefore, count on a couple of pretty spacious rows of seats, which both accommodate adults with ease. The cargo area should offer decent capacity as well.
2024 Audi Q5 Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, we presume that most of the current engines will carry over. However, they will probably come with a mild-hybrid system, as well as with a subtle power increase.
In any case, base models should come with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which currently comes in two output variants, with either 201 or 261 horsepower. This engine currently comes coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Of curse, the SQ5 is expected to continue with a 3.0-liter V6, which currently puts out 349 horsepower and comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Of course, it should also come with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a slight power increase.
The plug-in hybrid is also expected and we expect an upgraded version of the current system, which combines the turbo-four engine with an electric motor, for the combined output of 362 horsepower.
2024 Audi Q5 Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Audi Q5 will arrive sometime in the second half of 2023, with a starting price of around 46.000 dollars. Of course, the competition will remain the same, starting from rival models like BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
