2023 Cadillac XT5: Redesign, Specs, Changes

1721 0

The current generation of Cadillac’s compact SUV has been around since 2017 and despite the 2020 update and the fact that the sales numbers are still good, the company is preparing the next-generation model. If we look at the latest reports, it’s still unclear whether the new model is about to come as the 2023 model year, or to arrive in this calendar year. For now, we will call it the 2023 Cadillac XT5.

This redesign will certainly bring a lot of novelties, as the current model features a lot of things that need to be fixed. Interestingly, the platform will probably remain the same, though significantly updated. Of course, we count on the implementation of all kinds of the latest technologies, while a better interior quality is another thing that seems pretty much mandatory. Naturally, the new model will bring new styling, while the powertrain lineup should bring some novelties as well.

2023 Cadillac XT5 Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, the upcoming redesign is about to bring a lot of novelties. Interestingly, the platform will probably remain the same. We are talking about the good-old C1 architecture, which will be significantly updated. The new version will be called the C1-2 and it will open up the world of new technologies. It will allow the implementation of technologies like Super Cruise, while we also count on electrification and implementation of battery EV technology.

Cadillac engineers will also have to do a lot in terms of mechanics. We expect to see a completely new suspension and chassis setup, which would ensure a much better driving experience compared to the current model, which feels pretty uninspiring in this aspect. The new model could also save some weight and become even more efficient. Just like the current generation, it will feature a typical FF layout, while AWD will be available.

2023 Cadillac XT5 Exterior Design

When it comes to the exterior design, we expect the 2023 Cadillac XT5 to adopt the new design language. The current model doesn’t follow the latest design philosophy and, therefore, it doesn’t look particularly modern and attractive. This will change with the next year’s model, which should feature similar styling to models like XT6 and Escalade. This means a lot of sharp lines and rectangular shape, which looks really good in the case of the two aforementioned models.

In terms of dimensions, we don’t expect to see bigger changes. The wheelbase will probably remain the same or similar, a little bit over 112 inches. Other dimensions shouldn’t change drastically either, though the new model could become slightly longer and wider.

Interior

One of the current model’s biggest drawbacks is the cabin design. Although everything looks nice, the fact is that most rivals look more upscale. This particularly refers to interior materials and build quality, so we count on a lot of improvement in this aspect. Also, we count on a completely new dashboard design, which should take a lot of inspiration from the Escalade. This should include those massive screens as well, though they would probably be a little bit smaller in this case.

2023 Cadillac XT5 Interior

Considering that the exterior dimensions are about to remain the same, we may expect pretty similar amounts of passenger space as well. That’s definitely not a bad thing, considering that the current generation is very generous and accommodates adults in both rows with ease. The same thing is with the cargo area,  which currently features 30 cubic feet behind the second row and 63 cubic feet of the total cargo space, which is about average for the segment.

2023 Cadillac XT5 Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, the base versions will probably continue with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. On the other hand, we believe that the currently-optional V6 will be replaced. Instead, we expect to see the company’s new 2.7-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque.

Of course, electrification is another thing that comes to mind. We presume that the 2023 Cadillac XT5 will get an all-electric version based on the new Ultium technology. However, such a model probably won’t be ready for the initial launch of the new generation. It should come a few years later.

2023 Cadillac XT5 Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2023 Cadillac XT5 either in the last quarter of this year or sometime in 2023. In any case, we don’t believe that the starting price could significantly change. The current model starts at around 44.000 dollars.
