2023 Toyota Sienna Preview: No Bigger Changes To Come

Although three-row crossovers have taken over the market of family haulers, there are still few minivans left to compete. Among them, you can also find the well-known Toyota Sienna. Moreover, this is one of the freshest models in the segment, as it was redesigned last year. The 2023 Toyota Sienna will represent the third production year and, therefore, we don’t believe it could bring more important changes. Still, we wouldn’t exclude the possibility to see minor updates, such as new color options, new standard features and similar things.

On the other hand, the overall layout will remain the same. You may count on a familiar design and features, which are great in many ways. This minivan offers a smooth and refined ride, while the interior quality is pretty good for the segment. Furthermore, we like the efficient hybrid powertrain, even though rivals offer more passing power. Finally, there is a long list of standard equipment, especially when it comes to driver-assistance features.

As there are no significant changes to come, we expect that the 2023 Toyota Sienna will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Toyota Sienna Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation has been around since 2021. Therefore, it’s no wonder it feels very fresh in many aspects, both in terms of aesthetics and mechanics. Aesthetically, this minivan follows the brand’s latest design philosophy and offers a modern long, with a lot of interesting details, especially at the front.

When it comes to the mechanics, this model is based on the company’s new TNGA platform and the ride quality feels more refined compared to rivals like Chrysler Pacifica or Honda Odyssey. The ride is comfortable and smooth, perfect for long journeys. Still, there is a tiny dose of athleticism as well, which means that this minivan won’t lean in corners all that much, which is something we usually get from a vehicle like this.

Interior

This minivan mixes quality and practicality is such a nice fashion. The dashboard doesn’t look like a part of a minivan at all. It is well-shaped and utilizes soft-touch materials, while the long list of tech features makes it look even better. The rest of the cabin also features pretty impressive build quality.

Of course, three rows of seats are standard and adult passengers can fit all of them. The front seats are particularly good, with excellent support. We also like the driving position, which isn’t too high but still ensures good visibility in all directions.

On the other hand, the cargo area isn’t all that great. One of the main complaints goes to the second-row seats, which don’t fold flat. They can’t be removed either, so the total cargo volume is limited to 101 cubic feet, which is significantly less than what you get from other rivals. On the other hand, 33.5 cubic feet behind the third row and 75.2 cubics behind the second row seem pretty decent for a vehicle like this.

Features

Yearly updates can bring certain additions to the list of standard equipment but most of the things usually remain the same. The 2023 Toyota Sienna shouldn’t be an exception, so we expect that the list of standard features will include goodies like tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, a 9-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, seven USB ports, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.

The list of upgrades should include goodies like quad-zone climate control, a moonroof, household-style power outlets, navigation, HD Radio, eight- and 12-speaker stereos, wireless device charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system with an 11.6-inch display.

When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, road-sign recognition and many more.

2023 Toyota Sienna Powertrain

Under the hood, you may count on Toyota’s well-known system that’s based on a 2.5-liter inline-four engine, which comes in a combination with two electric motors. The total output goes around 245 horsepower, which is more than enough to ensure decent driving dynamics. Still, most rivals feel quicker, due to more powerful V6 engines. On the other hand, this powertrain is smooth and refined.

Also, we like the mpg ratings. With this minivan, you may count on about 36 miles per gallon in a combined ride. That’s pretty impressive for a vehicle of this size and weight.

2023 Toyota Sienna Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2023 Toyota Sienna launched sometime in the last quarter of the year. The price shouldn’t change much compared to the current model, which starts at around 35.000 dollars. The most expensive versions could easily go over 50.000 dollars.
