Not so long ago, the GV80 amazed the automotive world with its impressive level of luxury and as we are getting close to the third production year, there’s a big chance that things are about to continue in the same way. We expect to see a familiar layout. The 2023 Genesis GV80 should be a typical carryover model, even though some sources speculate about a performance version. At this point, the officials are still quiet on this matter.
In any case, the next year’s model will continue to impress us in so many ways. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is its gorgeous interior design, which is among the best in this class. Furthermore, we like the vehicle’s capable yet efficient powertrain, as well as a very long list of standard and available features. The best of all is that all these amazing features come at a price that’s notably lower compared to main rivals.
Considering that there are no significant changes to come, we expect that the 2023 Genesis GV80 will hit the market sometime late in the year.
2023 Genesis GV80 Design
As we already mentioned, the 2023 Genesis GV80 will represent the third production year of the model, so it’s hard to believe that bigger changes could happen. The overall layout will remain the same, based on the company’s new M3 platform, designed especially for premium vehicles. It is an RWD-based vehicle, which shares a lot of parts with the G80 luxury sedan. What we particularly like about it is the suspension setup, which ensures a super-smooth ride.
Visually, the new SUV follows the brand’s established design language, characterized by separate lighting sections and a massive grille. The overall shape comes in a typical SUV fashion, while the same thing can be said for dimensions. The GV80 measures 116.3 inches in wheelbase.
Interior
The 2023 Genesis GV80 will also continue in the same way, which is a great thing. Simply, this is definitely the strongest point of the vehicle, which offers exceptional quality. The cabin looks very elegant and it is wrapped with high-quality materials, mostly leather and other soft-touch materials. Furthermore, there is a lot of attention to detail, so much that this SUV looks even better than notably more expensive German rivals, such as Audi Q7, for example.
What’s also great about the GV80 are the seats, which are massive and very comfortable. We like the amount of space in the first two rows, which accommodate adults with ease. On the other hand, the optional third row is pretty tight. When it comes to the cargo space, you may count on about 12 cubic feet behind the third row, 34 cubic feet behind the second row and 84 cubic feet behind the first row. Those are pretty good numbers for the class.
Features
We may see some novelties on the list of standard and available equipment but we have no doubt that most of the things are about to remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, a digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch display, navigation, a 12-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, four USB ports, and Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Among upgrades, expect to find things like tri-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, wireless device charging and a 21-speaker Lexicon stereo.
The same thing is with driver assistance and safety features. All models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, front and rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane change assist, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, driver drowsiness monitoring etc.
2023 Genesis GV80 Engines
As we already mentioned, there are some sources that speculate about the high-performance version. At this point, the officials are still quiet, so we presume that the engine lineup will remain the same. Therefore, base models will continue with a 2.5-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 300 horsepower. It offers pretty good driving dynamics, while the average fuel economy goes around 21 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which is pretty good for the class.
The optional 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 is good for about 375 horsepower and offers notably better performance. However, it is also a little bit thirstier, with an average fuel economy of around 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
Both engines come in pair with a refined 8-speed automatic transmission, which is smooth and always shifts in time.
2023 Genesis GV80 Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Genesis GV80 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 51.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q7, Volvo XC90 etc.
