The new generation of Jeep’s legendary SUV has just been released and it has brought a lot of big novelties. Compared to the previous model, the new model is lighter, more efficient, better to drive and more luxurious. Considering all the novelties, we presume that the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which will represent the second production year, will come without more important changes. Still, this refers to base versions only. On the other hand, this should be a year for high-performance versions, which should continue with familiar SRT and Trackhawk badges.
All in all, you may count on an SUV that has so many great things to offer. We like its excellent off-road capabilities, luxurious cabin and a long list of standard and available equipment. Furthermore, the cabin is spacious and for the first time, you can get a stretched Grand Cherokee, with three rows of seats.
We expect to see the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee sometime in the second half of the year.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Design
Considering that we are talking about the second production year, it’s quite obvious that base design characteristics will remain the same. The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will carry on in the same way, with all the novelties that came with the recent redesign. This particularly refers to the new platform, which comes directly from Alfa Romeo. Of course, we are talking about the well-known Giorgio platform, which brings significant improvements over the previous generation. The new model is significantly lighter, more efficient and offers a way more engaging ride.
Of course, the recent redesign has brought a new styling as well. The new Grand Cherokee follows the brand’s latest design language but brings mostly evolutionary changes compared to the previous generation. The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will continue in the same way, though we expect that the upcoming high-performance versions will bring a couple of upgrades.
Interior
On the inside, the new Grand Cherokee is a completely different story than the previous generation. It looks way more luxurious, mostly because of the attractive dashboard design, which utilizes high-quality materials and comes with a full load of tech features on the offer. The overall build quality is pretty good as well.
Base models come in a standard two-row seating configuration and can accommodate five adults with ease. The amount of space is pretty generous, while there is also plenty of cargo room. You may count on about 37.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 70.8 cubic feet.
For the first time, the Grand Cherokee is also available in a stretched, seven-seat version. The third row is also quite functional, while you can also count on additional cargo space. In numbers, that would be around 17.2 cubic feet of space. That expands to 46.9 cubic feet with the third row folded down and 84.6 of the total cargo volume, which is about average for a mid-size three-row SUV.
Features
Novelties in this aspect are always possible but as we are talking about the second production year, we are pretty sure that most of the things will remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
Among upgrades, expect to find goodies like quad-zone climate control, a dual-pane sunroof, a 10.1-inch touch screen, a 10.25-inch passenger-side touch screen, navigation, a nine-speaker Alpine stereo, a 19-speaker McIntosh stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, a rear-seat entertainment system, wireless device charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engines
Under the hood, standard models will continue in the same way. Base versions will continue to use a 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 290 horsepower. For those who are looking for something peppier, there is an optional 5.7-liter V8, which puts out around 360 horsepower. Both engines come in pair with an 8–speed automatic transmission, which does an excellent job. The base engine returns around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. On the other hand, the V8 is good for about 14/22 mpg city/highway.
The next year’s model is expected to bring high-performance versions. One of them will be the SRT model, which will use a 6.4-liter V8, with a max output of around 475 horsepower. We count on the Trackhawk version as well. This model uses a 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 Hellcat engine, which should provide way over 700 horsepower in this case.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Release Date and Price
The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee should hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 38.000 dollars. Three-row models should go around 41.000 dollars. When it comes to the competition, key rivals should be models like Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, Kia Telluride etc.
