2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Is Getting Big Engine Upgrades!

1643 6

It’s been less than two years since Jeep released the new generation of its legendary mid-size SUV and it looks like some novelties are coming already for the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. From what we know so far, it’s time for powertrain updates. The current model is available with V6 and V8 naturally-aspirated units and now it’s time for turbocharging. Just like the Wagoneer, the new Grand Cherokee will also benefit from the new Hurricane inline-six engine and offer plenty of power in combination with respectable efficiency.

Other than the powertrain, we don’t believe that the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee could bring more important changes. We expect to see a familiar design, with familiar characteristics and features. This SUV has so many good things to offer, starting from the smooth ride, great off-road performance and a pretty luxurious interior.

Despite the potential engine upgrade, we don’t believe it could arrive much earlier than usual. We expect to see it sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Is Getting New Powertrain!

The biggest novelties for the next year are about to come under the hood. The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee will come with many of them, as three new powertrain options are expected. From what we know so far, the Hurricane engine is about to debut in Jeep pretty soon. This 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-four will most likely come in two variants, with either 420 or 510 horsepower. We presume this will be the replacement for the large V8. It will be more powerful, with more torque and also with better fuel economy.

We also expect to see a hybrid version. This model would use a familiar 4xe system that already powers models like Jeep Wrangler. That system combines a 2.0-liter turbo-four with an electric motor, for a combined output of 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Besides good driving dynamics, we also count on a decent all-electric range, which could easily go over 25 miles.

On the other hand, base models will continue with a familiar 3.6-liter V6. All engines come coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Other than the new powertrain options, we don’t believe that the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee could bring more important changes. We expect to see a familiar layout, introduced a little bit over a year ago. The new generation is based on the Giorgio platform and it is lighter and more athletic than the previous one. At the same time, Jeep engineers managed to keep off-road performance at the same level. You can also opt for an adaptive air suspension, as well as a Quadra-Trac II 4WD system, and turn Grande Cherokee into the best off-roader among mid-size SUVs by a large margin.

In terms of aesthetics, the recent redesign brought an evolution of the Grand Cherokee’s recognizable design. The seven-slot grille is still there but it comes in a new iteration, with a bolder and more prominent appearance. The whole vehicle looks more muscular than before and, therefore, we don’t expect any notable change for the next year. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see minor tweaks like new color options, or some special edition.

Interior

Just like the exterior, the cabin design shouldn’t bring more important changes. This SUV looks very luxurious from the inside. It combines elegant aesthetics with fine materials and advanced tech features. Such a combination makes the cabin looks more upscale compared to most rivals.

The cabin is well-built and also offers a generous amount of space. Both rows are very generous in this aspect and accommodate adults with ease. The front seats are massive and supportive, while the driving position is very good. For those who look for additional seats, there is also a stretched version, with three rows of seats.

When it comes to cargo volume, this isn’t the most impressive SUV in the class. Rivals like Toyota Highlander and Chevy Traverse offer way more room. The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee will offer nearly 38 cubic feet behind the second row and around 70 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

Features

We won’t be surprised if the company brings additional standard and available features. Still, even if that happens, we won’t see anything significant. Most things should remain similar and include goodies like a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker audio system, USB ports, Bluetooth, dual-zone automatic climate control and push-button start.

The current list of options includes available upgrades like a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch passenger-side touchscreen, navigation, wireless device charging, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, HD Radio, satellite radio, a rear-seat entertainment system. The list of options also includes quad-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof and remote start. We presume some of these upgrades could become part of the standard equipment.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Release Date and Price

Due to the expected engine upgrades, the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee might arrive a little bit earlier than usual. However, we don’t expect to see it before the second half of the year. As for the price, base models should go around 41.000 dollars.

  2. Don’t know where you’re getting your sources from, but sorry, this can’t be true. 2024 Grand Cherokee/Grand Cherokee L/4xe order banks are already open with no option of the hurricane engine.

  3. People want a damn v-8; it doesn’t have to be the biggest, naturally aspirated, with reasonable horsepower.. Reason I’ve owned one car with a turbo (an Audi) and there was a recall on that; don’t want another one, favor long term reliability and a turbo AIN’T THAT!
