Today’s automotive industry is more competitive than ever and you can notice that even in the segment of full-size SUVs, which isn’t all that crowded at all. Design-wise, the 2023 Ford Expedition definitely won’t bring changes. We are about to see a familiar layout, which has been updated recently. The 2022 facelift has brought a lot of new things, starting from a new styling. This SUV now comes with a completely new front end, which comes with a new grille design, new headlights and a more aggressive bumper. Considering all these updates, we are pretty sure that the best the next year’s model could bring is new color options.
Mechanically, things haven’t changed since the initial launch of the generation and the 2023 Ford Expedition won’t bring them either. We are about to see a familiar setup, which provides a kind of ride quality that balances between comfort and maneuverability in a pretty nice fashion.
Interior
The recent update was pretty generous with interior updates too, so we presume that the 2023 Ford Expedition won’t bring any important change. We expect to see the same cabin design, which has brought a new dashboard and more tech features. The new dash looks more attractive and utilizes finer materials. Also, there is a new infotainment screen, with 12.0-inches in the standard version and 15.5 inches in more expensive variants, which makes this cabin look pretty high-tech.
On the other hand, the amount of passenger space remained the same, which isn’t an issue at all. This SUV accommodates adults with ease in all three rows and can carry up to 8 passengers in such a comfortable fashion. The cargo area is also pretty big, though we have to say that the new Tahoe is more generous in this aspect, just like the aging Toyota Sequoia. In numbers, this SUV offers around 21 cubic feet behind the third row, 63.6 cubic feet behind the second row and nearly 105 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
Features
This aspect shouldn’t bring bigger changes either, though there is always room for a couple of new things. Base models should come standard with goodies like a 12.0-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, Wi-Fi hotspot, power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry, six-speaker audio. Also, all models should come with a lot of safety features, such as automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking etc.
Among upgrades, we expect to find things like a 15.5-inch infotainment screen, tri-zone climate control, satellite radio, leather upholstery, adjustable passenger’s seat, heated steering wheel, premium audio systems, surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, navigation and many more.
2023 Ford Expedition Engines
Things under the hood shouldn’t change either. We expect to see a familiar 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which comes in different output versions. Base models will continue with the version that puts out around 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The Limited trim offers an engine upgrade, where the max output goes up to 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the Stealth Performance package, as well as the Timberline Edition come with even more power and torque – 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque.
All versions come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while versions with 4WD are available too.
