2025 Ford Expedition Is Getting Another Refresh

689 0

Ford’s biggest SUV has been around since 2018 but it still has a lot of great things to offer. It is spacious and pretty capable, with a max towing capacity of 9.300 pounds. At the same time, there are versions that can hit sixty in less than five seconds, while the massive infotainment screens are pretty much the latest world of technology. With all that said, it’s quite obvious that the current generation still has a couple of good years before it gets a full redesign. It may have even more than that because it looks like the company plans to extend its lifespan. The 2025 Ford Expedition will get big changes, but rather another mid-cycle refresh than a complete overhaul.

The test mule has already been spotted on the road and it wears a lot of camouflage. Therefore, we expect to see a lot of styling enhancements. Furthermore, parts of the interior are also covered, which clearly indicates updates. Finally, we won’t exclude the possibility to see new powertrain options.

We expect that the 2025 Ford Expedition will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2024.

2025 Ford Expedition Design

As mentioned, this will rather be a refresh than a full redesign. The current generation has been around since 2018 and it was already updated once, so this is going to be the second facelift. The test mule has already been spotted and it wears a lot of camouflage. From what we can see, the overall shape seems exactly the same, but the new model is about to bring novelties to the front end. We expect to see a pair of new headlights, a new grille, a bumper and a new hood. The rear end shows new taillights and tailgate, despite the camouflage.

On the other hand, we presume that the mechanical aspect of the vehicle won’t change much. The current model already features a pretty advanced setup, with independent rear suspension and offers decent ride quality. It also offers decent off-road performance with the Timberline version, which includes a two-speed transfer case, limited-slip differential, all-terrain tires and suspension upgrades, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the company offers something even more capable after this update.

Interior

Interior updates are expected too. The test mule wears a cover on the inside as well, so we presume some modifications are in the works. That could be a new dashboard design, as well as new materials and overall improvement in terms of the build quality. On the other hand, the current model already features quite an impressive amount of tech goodies, including the optional 15.5-inch infotainment screen. So, it’s hard to expect more significant updates in this aspect.

Of course, the overall cabin layout is about to remain the same. Three spacious rows of seats and cargo area are coming without changes, and that includes the stretched Expedition Max, which offers even more space on the inside. Still, it’s worth mentioning that key rivals like Chevy Suburban and GMC Yukon are even more spacious.

2025 Ford Expedition Engines

As for the powertrain, we presume that the 2025 Ford Expedition will carry on with the familiar 3.5-liter turbo V6. Depending on the trim level, you get different max outputs, starting from the base 380-hp unit. Most versions are good for about 400 horsepower, while the range-topping models are good for 440 horses, which is enough power to hit 60 in 4.9 seconds. Of course, we won’t exclude the possibility to see some power upgrades for the next year.

On the other hand, novelties may come in the form of electrification. Some sources speculate about a hybrid version, borrowed from the F-150, while we can also hear reports about the all-electric model. The latter is particularly interesting, and we presume we would see the same specs as in the F-150 Lightning. That all-electric pickup is available in two variants, with 452 and 580 horsepower. Moreover, there are also two battery packs on offer. Base models use a 98-kWh battery pack with 230 miles of range, while the bigger 130-kWh package ensures up to 320 miles on a single charge.

As for the plug-in hybrid, we also expect to see the same system as in the world’s most popular pickup, based on a 3.5-liter turbo V6 that comes in a combination with a 35-kW electric motor. The total output goes up to 400 horsepower.

2025 Ford Expedition Release Date and Price

With all the updates to come, it’s expected to see the 2025 Ford Expedition a little bit earlier than usual, though still within the second half of 2024. As for the price, the current model starts at around 56.000 dollars, and the new model will most likely get a little bit more expensive. Of course, the competition remains the same, in the form of models like Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, Jeep Wagoneer etc.
