According to the latest reports, the new generation of Cadillac’s compact crossover will arrive the next year, as the 2024 Cadillac XT5. The initial plan was to launch the new generation by the end of this year but the whole process has been delayed, due to the shortage of semiconductors and other components. In any case, the new generation is about to bring a full load of novelties and, we hope, improvements in all aspects.
First of all, the new generation will be based on the company’s new platform. Of course, you may expect to see a completely new exterior and interior design, while there are also some big expectations regarding powertrain and new engine options.
Although the officials are still quiet, we expect that the 2024 Cadillac XT5 will arrive sometime in the second half of 2023.
2024 Cadillac XT5 Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Cadillac XT5 will come completely redesigned and we expect to see all kinds of novelties, starting from the new platform. The details are still unavailable, it’s still unclear which version of the new VSS platform this crossover is about to use. The current generation features front-wheel drive, so it makes sense to expect the VSS-F iteration. However, if we consider that most rivals feature rear-wheel drive, there is no doubt that the new XT5 would be way more competitive with the VSS-R platform, which comes with RWD layout.
In any case, we expect various improvements, starting from improved ride quality. This refers to both comfort and athleticism, which in other words means composed handling, something you would expect from an SUV with a premium badge.
Exterior
When it comes to the exterior design, we don’t expect that the overall proportions could change significantly. The current model already features pretty big dimensions by the segment standards, so most measurements should remain pretty similar.
On the other hand, we expect to see a completely new styling. We have no doubt it will be based on the Escala concept and the styling will take a lot of inspiration from the mid-size XT6. Still, keep in mind that the three-row SUV has been around for a while, so we could also see a couple of new exclusive details.
Interior
Big novelties are expected on the inside as well. If you look at the current cabin, the dashboard looks quite attractive. However, if you look closer, you will notice that there is a pretty big percentage of areas that are covered with plastics and other lower-quality materials. That’s something you wouldn’t expect in the premium segment, so we are pretty sure that the new generation will fix this issue. Of course, we also count on lots of new tech features, such as a new infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, new connectivity features, Super Cruise etc.
As we’ve just mentioned, the overall dimensions probably won’t change too much, so we presume that the amount of passenger space will remain pretty similar as well. The current generation is already very generous in this aspect, so there’s no doubt that the new model will also be pretty roomy. On the other hand, the current model would use a little bit more cargo space.
2024 Cadillac XT5 Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, the latest reports suggest an upgraded version of the current turbo-four engine. The current 2.0-liter unit puts out around 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the new version would probably offer a little bit more power and better efficiency.
On the other hand, we presume that the V6 will carry on in the same way. Some sources also speculate about a plug-in hybrid version, though details are still unavailable.
Finally, we can hear rumors about the high-performance version, which would use a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, with a max output of around 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.
2024 Cadillac XT5 Release Date and Price
We believe that the 2024 Cadillac XT5 could arrive already in the next summer. When it comes to the price, we presume that base versions would cost around 45.000 dollars. Key competitors should be models like BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Volvo XC60 etc.
