The 2025 Nissan Patrol is about to replace a V8 with a turbocharged V6 engine.

2025 Nissan Patrol Replaces V8 With V6 Engine
Ford already dropped a V8 configuration from most of its SUVs and trucks. Only high-end performance setups use big rigs. Nissan’s biggest rival, Toyota, did the same on the Land Cruiser and Lexus LX premium SUV. Instead of one of the most durable and reliable engines you could find in the market, these vehicles are now using a turbocharged V6. Horsepower and torque are even better, as well as the fuel economy. Of course, buyers will complain about turbo lags and a few other things, but they will forget about a V8 in a few years.
Patrol is a bit late with this update, but better late than never. A turbocharged V6 can replace a larger unit if engineers manage to provide reliability and durability. Turbochargers will squeeze extra power, which is needed to move the big rig around smoothly. A new transmission is also on the way instead of a 7-speed auto gearbox.
The 2025 Nissan Patrol might also get a hybrid version. Such configurations are not so strange nowadays, and slowly all big vehicles segments are implementing the new technology.
