2023 Chevy Express Passenger Van Specs and Features

The automotive industry is changing rapidly, some would say. That’s not far from the truth but there are still isolated cases of models that defy the latest trends in the industry. The Chevy Express is one of them, a model that hasn’t changed for 25 years. From what we know so far, things won’t change in the next year either. The 2023 Chevy Express Passenger Van is about to carry on in the same way, with familiar design characteristics.

So, you may count on a design that still has a lot of good things to offer. We like its capable engine options, as well as the pretty impressive towing capacity. Also, you have a choice between standard and long-wheelbase models, where the latter can accommodate up to 15 passengers. On the other hand, the main drawbacks are outdated design, unimpressive ride quality and the lack of modern features.

Since there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2023 Chevy Express Passenger Van will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2023 Chevy Express Passenger Van Design

Design-wise, the 2023 Chevy Express Passenger Van hasn’t changed much for 25 years. Even the styling looks pretty much the same and you can easily recognize that this vehicle comes from some previous era of the automotive industry. The next year’s model won’t bring changes either, so the styling should remain the same.

Mechanically, this van rides on a good-old GMT 610 platform, which means that we are talking about a genuine body-on-frame layout, which is rather typical for pickups these days. For that reason, the ride quality isn’t all that great, especially when compared to more modern rivals, such as Ford Transit or Nissan NV, Ram ProMaster etc. On the other hand, the benefit of such a design is impressive towing ratings, which go all-away up to 9.600 pounds.

Interior

On the inside, the biggest benefit of this van is the amount of space. This van is very generous in this aspect, as the base version accommodates 12 adults with ease. Also, you can go for the long-wheelbase version, which accommodates up to 15 passengers.

The dashboard design definitely shows signs of aging. It looks outdated and lacks modern features. Still, the build quality is good and promises years of exploitation.

Trim Levels

We expect that the 2023 Chevy Express will continue in two familiar versions. The base LS model will continue with a pretty basic list of standard equipment, which includes goodies like 16-inch wheels, front and rear air-conditioning, power windows and locks, vinyl upholstery, a two-speaker audio system, a rearview camera etc.

The upgrade comes in the form of LT trim, which brings upgrades like chrome bumpers, remote door locks, full-floor carpeting, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, tilting steering wheel etc.

Also, there are notable optional features, such as a heavy-duty trailering package, upgraded audio system, blind-spot monitoring, locking rear differential, power adjustable front seats etc.

2023 Chevy Express Passenger Van Engines

The 2023 Chevy Express Passenger Van will continue with three familiar engine options on offer. Base models will continue with a 4.3-liter V6, which puts out around 276 horsepower and 298 pound-feet of torque. Also, you can get a large 6.6-liter V8 (same as in Silverado HD), which puts out 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Finally, there is a diesel version, equipped with a 2.8-liter unit that puts out around 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.

When it comes to transmission, the V6 and turbodiesel use an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the V8 uses a heavy-duty 6-speed automatic gearbox.
