2023 Chevy Tahoe Preview: No Bigger Changes Expected

The current generation of Chevy’s full-size SUV has been around for a while and judging of the sales result from the last year, it looks like GM did a fantastic job. The Tahoe is the best-selling model in the class by a large margin. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Chevy Tahoe, which will represent the third production year of the generation, will arrive without more important updates. We are about to see a familiar design, though there is always a chance to see minor tweaks, such as new color options and similar things.

All in all, you may count on the familiar advantages and disadvantages of this SUV. When it comes to things we like about this SUV, some of the first things that come to mind are a spacious cabin, generous cargo area, and an intuitive infotainment system. Furthermore, the engine lineup is pretty capable, while the diesel version offers pretty impressive fuel economy.

Considering that there are no significant changes to come, we expect that the 2023 Chevy Tahoe will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Chevy Tahoe Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe will represent the third production year of the generation and therefore, we presume there will be no bigger changes. We will see a familiar layout, based on the new T1 platform, which has brought various improvements, including better ride quality. Of course, one of the reasons is the independent rear suspension, which also improves cargo capacity. The styling follows the brand’s latest design language, so the best we can see for the next year are new color options.

When it comes to off-roading, every Tahoe is available with four-wheel drive and offers respectable ground clearance. However, there is also the Z71 model, which brings some serious hardware to the table. You may count on things like a two-speed transfer case, a heavy-duty air filter, hill descent control, a front skid plate, two front recovery hooks, and all-terrain tires as a part of standard equipment, while the limited-slip differential is available too.

Interior

The Tahoe is a fantastic family hauler and the next year won’t bring any changes in this aspect. We are about to see a familiar layout, which includes three rows of seats and a seating capacity for eight passengers. Unlike the previous generation, this model features a very functional third row, which accommodates adults in a pretty nice fashion. The cargo area is among the biggest in the class. You may count on about 25.5 cubic feet behind the third-row seats and 72.6 cubic feet with those seats folded and 122.9 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

The interior quality has improved too but still lags behind key competitors. Simply, there is still a lot of areas that are covered with hard plastics, while the build quality isn’t spectacular either. On the other hand, the offer of tech features is pretty generous.

Features

We don’t believe that the list of standard and available features could change too much for the next year. So, all models should come standard with goodies like a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, voice recognition, a six-speaker stereo, a Wi-Fi hot spot, eight USB ports, a panoramic sunroof, a universal garage door opener, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless device charging, navigation, a second-row entertainment system, a nine-speaker Bose sound system, and a 10-speaker Bose surround-sound stereo should be on the list of options.

The same thing goes for safety features. So, all models should come standard with a rearview camera, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers etc. Among options, expect to find things like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, head-up display, surround-view camera system, rear pedestrian detection etc.

2023 Chevy Tahoe Engines

Under the hood, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe will continue with three familiar powertrain options on the offer. So, base models will continue to use a 5.3-liter V8, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. For more ambitious drivers, there is the 6.2-liter V8, which features a max output of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Finally, there is a diesel version, which uses a 3.0-liter inline-six that puts out 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Besides decent performance, this version also offers excellent fuel economy, which goes around 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
