2024 Cadillac XT6 Preview: Changes, Updates, Release Date, Price

The XT6 is heading into the fifth production year and although we would usually expect to see some kind of a mid-cycle refresh after four years of production, that won’t happen. The 2024 Cadillac XT6 will rather come as a typical carryover model, with a familiar design and features. Of course, we won’t exclude the possibility of seeing minor updates, such as new color options or a few extra features, but most things will definitely remain the same.

With all that said, potential buyers will know what to expect from the next year’s model. This mid-size SUV has some pretty good things to offer. We like its styling, as well as the efficient powertrain options. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, while the list of standard equipment is pretty impressive. However, the XT6 isn’t without flaws. It lacks the athleticism of German rivals, while the subpar interior quality could be a dealbreaker for a good portion of potential customers.

With no significant changes to come, we expect the 2024 Cadillac XT6 to arrive sometime in the fall.

2024 Cadillac XT6 Design

As mentioned, the 2024 Cadillac XT6 will represent the fifth production year. It won’t feature bigger changes, but rather a familiar layout. One of the things we really like about this SUV is its attractive, Escalade-like styling, with a massive and bold front-end design and muscular overall silhouette.

As for the mechanics, this SUV rides on a familiar C1 platform, just like models like GMC Acadia or Chevy Traverse. So, there comes one of the limiting factors, the fact that this is a front-wheel-drive SUV, which isn’t something you would expect from a premium SUV of this size. For that reason, the level of athleticism isn’t spectacular. It is rather a smooth and comfortable SUV, though things are a little bit better with the optional all-wheel drive. Certain versions, such as the Sport trim, add a limited-slip rear differential to improve handling.

Interior

As for the interior design, the 2024 Cadillac XT6 will once again continue in the same way. This SUV looks nice, though it’s easy to notice that there are many areas in the cabin that are wrapped with materials that aren’t at the same level as those found inside Lincoln Aviator or German competitors. Don’t get us wrong, there is nothing bad in this aspect, but we would simply expect to see a little bit more premium materials.

Cadillac XT6-V interior

This is a three-row SUV, with the capacity to accommodate 7 passengers. The first row offers spacious and massive seats, with good driving position and ergonomics. The second row is as comfortable. On the other hand, the fact that the wheelbase goes around 12.7 inches means that the third row is typically tight for the segment and that works best for kids.

As for the cargo area, you may count on about 12.6 cubic feet of cargo behind its third row, 43.1 cubic feet with these seats folded and 78.7 cubic feet with all rear seats folded. That’s pretty impressive for a luxury mid-size SUV.

Features

Although we won’t see a mid-cycle refresh, we could still see a couple of updates in terms of new standard features. Still, most things will remain the same as in the current model, which won’t blow your mind with tech features, but definitely feels equipped pretty well. It comes standard with goodies like an 8-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, six USB ports, HD Radio, satellite radio, an eight-speaker stereo, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The list of standard equipment also includes convenience features like tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, panoramic roof etc.

As for the upgrades, there are a few things you can opt for, starting from the 8-inch digital instrument cluster, which could be one f the things to become standard next year. Other than that, there are goodies like navigation, 14-speaker premium audio, wireless charging etc.

2024 Cadillac XT6 Engines

As for the powertrain, the 2024 Cadillac XT6 will carry one with two familiar engine options on offer. Base models will continue with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 237 horsepower. As you can see, it’s not the most capable engine around but it helps this SUV earn around 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, which is very good for the segment.

For those who look for something peppier, there is the optional 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower. It offers notably better driving dynamics, but it is also slightly thirstier. The average fuel economy goes around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is still pretty good for the class.

Both engines come coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
