Chevy’s flagship SUV has always been praised for its comfort and practicality and even though the current model is still doing great on the market, it’s time for updates. The current generation will get a mid-cycle refresh and from what we know so far, it will be quite comprehensive. The 2024 Chevy Suburban is about to receive novelties in all aspects, not just in terms of aesthetics.
So, what we are about to see is a significantly updated full-size SUV, with the refreshed styling. Big changes are coming on the inside as well, in terms of new tech features and more. Finally, upgrades are coming under the hood as well, as the diesel version is about to get a notable power and torque boost.
With all these changes in mind, it is pretty much for sure that the 2024 Chevy Suburban will arrive earlier than usual, though we still believe that the launch date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
2024 Chevy Suburban Design
So, the first notable thing about this update will be the styling. The test mule has already been spotted and with the heavy camouflage it carries, it’s obvious that the changes will be significant. We presume it will get the same treatment as Tahoe. This means a new front fascia, along with a revised grille, headlights and many more. The range-topping High Country Trim is expected to go even further and bring a more unique design, with two-tier headlights design and a few more exclusive details, including the optional 24-inch wheels. The rear end is also expected to get novelties, such as revised headlights, rear bumper and more.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle won’t change. This will still be the familiar Suburban that rides on a familiar T1 platform and comes standard with independent rear suspension. Furthermore, there is also the optional air suspension, which improves comfort significantly and also has the ability to increase ground clearance to 10 inches. Speaking of the ground clearance, the Z71 will continue in the same way, with a couple of off-road upgrades, such as a two-speed transfer case, all-terrain tires and more.
Interior
The outgoing model has always been praised for its cavernous cabin, with plenty of passenger and cargo space. However, it was criticized for subpar interior quality and it looks like things are about to change. The 2024 Chevy Suburban will get a completely new dashboard design and if we can trust the latest reports, it will get the same treatment as the new Silverado, with a couple of massive screens – one for the infotainment and the other for digital gauges. Of course, updates and upgrades in terms of other tech features are expected too.
Of course, the overall cabin layout won’t change, so you may count on the same amount of passenger and cargo space. This SUV accommodates adults in all three rows with ease, while the cargo area is among the biggest in the class. In numbers, that would be around 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 93.8 cubic feet with these seats folded and 144.7 cubic feet in total.
2024 Chevy Suburban Engines
As for the powertrain, the 2024 Chevy Suburban will continue with two gasoline and one diesel engine. However, that doesn’t mean that there will be no changes. The diesel unit will get a significant upgrade, as the max output will go up to 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. To remind you, the outgoing version is good for about 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
The rest of the lineup is expected to carry on in the same way. So, base versions will be equipped with a 5.3-liter V8, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. The range-topping powertrain is the well-known 6.2-liter V8, rated at around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
All engines come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2024 Chevy Suburban Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Chevy Suburban will hit the market this fall. As for the price, we could see a slight increase compared to the 2023 model, which starts at around 59.000 dollars. Of course, the competition remains the same, in the form of Ford Expedition Max, Jeep Wagoneer L etc.
