The Japanese manufacturer brought the Passport nameplate back after a couple of decades and the new generation has already been around for a while. It was introduced for 2019, and also received a mid-cycle refresh last year. This means that the current generation will remain in production for a few more years. Most likely, the 2024 Honda Passport will represent the final production year. After, we count on a redesign.
Therefore, we don’t believe that the bigger changes could occur for the final production year. Instead, we expect to see a familiar layout and pretty much the same list of features. Therefore, you may count on an SUV that looks modern and rides well. We like its spacious cabin, as well as a super-refined powertrain. Furthermore, the cabin quality is very good, while the Japanese manufacturer is also quite generous with standard and available equipment.
As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2024 Honda Passport will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2024 Honda Passport Design
So, the 2024 Honda Passport is about to carry on in the same way. As we already mentioned, the current generation has been around for a while, but we also saw a facelift last year, so everything looks and feels pretty modern. This particularly refers to the styling, which received a completely new front end, with a bolder grille, a more aggressive bumper design and other updates.
What’s more important about this SUV is that we are talking about a well-designed vehicle, which offers a pretty good chassis and suspension setup. The ride is smooth and comfortable, but also pretty engaging. Furthermore, it even offers a relatively decent off-road performance, thanks to the advanced all-wheel drive system. However, it’s far from a serious off-roader, considering that it lacks things like locking differentials, a two-speed transfer case, skid plates etc. Also, the ground clearance is at a relatively modest 8.1 inches.
Interior
When it comes to interior design, you can easily notice Honda’s typically conservative design approach, with conventional dashboard design. However, the actual quality is pretty impressive, as most materials are soft to the touch, while everything is assembled very well.
What’s more important is that the Passport of very comfortable from the inside. The front seats are massive and supportive, while we particularly like the driving position. The ergonomics are excellent, while the outward visibility is also pretty decent. The second row is also very spacious and accommodates three adult passengers with ease.
Finally, there is the cargo area, which offers around 41.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 77.7 cubic feet of the total cargo volume, which is an excellent rating for a two-row mid-size SUV.
Features
Although novelties are always possible in this aspect, we are pretty sure that most things are about to remain the same. Therefore, base models should come equipped with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless device charging, HD Radio, satellite radio, a seven-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, three USB ports, tri-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, and a moonroof. Among upgrades, expect to find available features like navigation, a 10-speaker stereo, Wi-Fi hot spot, ambient lighting etc.
When it comes to safety features, all models should come loaded with goodies like a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, rear-seat reminded blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control.
2024 Honda Passport Engine
Things under the hood definitely won’t change and the 2024 Honda Passport will carry on with a well-known 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine. This super-smooth unit features a max output of around 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque and besides strong performance, it also offers a super-smooth ride. The engine comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which also does a pretty good job.
Besides good ride quality, you may also count on decent fuel economy. It goes around 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the segment. Of course, you can also opt for an AWD version but in that case, count on slightly lower fuel efficiency.
2024 Honda Passport Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2024 Honda Passport sometime in the last quarter of 2023, with a starting price of around 38.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Chevy Blazer, Nissan Murano, Hyundai Santa Fe etc.
