The current generation of Jeep’s compact crossover has been around since 2017 but a couple of yearly updates we saw recently made it fresh enough to continue competing with younger rivals. The 2022 model brought styling updates and a completely new interior, while the 2023 model year brought a new engine. With all that said, it’s pretty obvious that the current generation has a few more good years before it receives a full redesign. Does this mean that the 2024 Jeep Compass will be without updates? It’s still hard to say, but there are some indicators that suggest the addition of another, electrified powertrain.
With updates or without, the 2024 Jeep Compass will continue offering familiar qualities. This small SUV offers pretty good off-road performance, while the list of strong points also includes things like a nice interior, a long list of standard equipment and an intuitive infotainment system.
Despite the potential updates, the 2024 Jeep Compass will come in a typical time of year, sometime in the last quarter of 2023.
2024 Jeep Compass Design
As for the base design approach, we don’t expect anything special. This model year will bring a familiar layout, with familiar aesthetics, though we won’t exclude the possibility to see a couple of new color options. The same is with mechanics, whereas this crossover definitely isn’t a class leader when it comes to comfort and handling but, on the other hand, it’s pretty much second to none when it comes to off-road potential.
This particularly refers to the Trailhawk trim, which brings some nice off-road upgrades, such as a 1-inch suspension lift and upgraded suspension, upgraded four-wheel-drive system, hill descent control, skid plates, all-terrain tires and rear tow hooks. Moreover, it also offers a couple of additional drive modes, such as Rock and Hill Descent.
Interior
Last year, the Compass’s interior received a significant makeover and as a result, the current cabin looks pretty impressive. It looks more upscale compared to most classmates. Nice materials are all around the cabin, while the higher trim levels even tend to look quite luxurious. All this is complemented by a good portion of tech features, which make everything even more upscale.
The Compass isn’t the most spacious compact SUV, but there is still enough passenger space for five people. The front seats look nice and offer plenty of space, though some complaints about side support. The second row is decent, though many rivals offer more room.
As for the cargo area, you may count on about 27.2 cubic feet of room behind the second row and a maximum capacity of 59.8 cubic feet with the second row folded down. That’s slightly below average for the segment.
Features
Of course, there is always a chance to see a few novelties regarding standard and available equipment but we are pretty sure that most things in the 2024 Jeep Compass are about to remain the same. So, base models are expected to come standard with goodies like a 10.1-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, satellite radio, Bluetooth, a six-speaker audio system, voice recognition and three USB ports, as well as a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and remote keyless entry.
Among options, expect to find goodies like navigation, Amazon Alexa, HD Radio, wireless device charging, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, an additional USB port, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, proximity keyless entry, remote start and a panoramic sunroof.
As for safety, base models will come with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, driver-attention monitoring etc.
2024 Jeep Compass Engine
The last year’s update was important because Compass finally received a proper engine. Now, all models come equipped with a turbo-four that puts out 200 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Also new is an 8-speed automatic transmission, while all-wheel drive is not standard in all models. When it comes to fuel economy, this SUV returns around 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, which is decent for the class.
However, some sources speculate about electrification. According to them, the next year’s Compass could get a hybrid version, the one from the Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet. That system is based on a 1.3-liter turbo-four and offers a quite respectable combined output of 288 horsepower. Moreover, it also offers a decent 30-mile range in EV mode.
2024 Jeep Compass Release Date and Price
With no significant changes to come, we are pretty sure that the 2024 Jeep Compass will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year. As for the price, the current model starts at around 30.000 dollars and we don’t expect bigger changes in the next year. Models like Ford Bronco Sport and Subaru Forester are some of the key competitors.
