In the world of off-roaders, the Patrol takes a special place, as one of the legends. This nameplate has been around for decades and it is one of the most famous SUVs around the world. The current generation is no exception but it looks like it’s time for changes. Simply, the current generation has been around since 2010 and it’s about time to see some changes. The 2024 Nissan Patrol is expected to receive a complete redesign and it looks like we are about to see some pretty interesting novelties.
Although the officials are still quiet, this redesign in the next year sounds like a pretty much certain thing. A lot of changes are about to come, starting from a completely new design, new interior, new tech and convenience features etc. Finally, we are about to see a completely new powertrain, smaller and more efficient than the current unit.
The all-new 2024 Nissan Patrol could arrive sometime in the second half of the new year.
2024 Nissan Patrol Redesign
As we already mentioned, the current generation has been around for a very long time, so there is no doubt that we will be seeing significant updates. Of course, one of the first things that come to mind is the platform and from what we can see, it looks like the Japanese manufacturer is continuing to use the good-old F-Alpha platform. Of course, this architecture would be upgraded and updated in so many ways, in order to improve performance, efficiency and overall driving experience.
The Patrol has always been a capable off-roader, so we expect nothing less from the new generation. It should come available with all kinds of off-road goodies, such as locking differentials, two-speed transfer case, skid plates, tow hooks and similar things. However, we also expect Japanese engineers to work on the suspension a little bit, in order to make the ride a little bit smoother on the road.
Exterior
Of course, we expect to see the 2024 Nissan Patrol with a completely new design. We expect that the overall size and proportions won’t change much. The overall shape should remain quite similar but on the other hand, we count on entirely new aesthetics. We count on the implementation of Nissan’s latest design language, especially at the front. The whole vehicle should bring a bolder and more muscular appearance.
Considering the recent update of the outgoing generation, which has brought a significantly refreshed styling, we presume that the styling changes will actually be quite subtle with this redesign. We count on an evolutionary approach from the Japanese manufacturer, without any radical change.
Interior
On the other hand, we expect a lot from the new interior. Simply, not many thing have changed since the initial launch, so it’s no wonder why the dashboard looks outdated. It may feature good build quality but materials definitely have to be softer and nicer. That’s what we expect from the new dashboard design – a more attractive design, nicer materials and further improvements in terms of the build quality. Naturally, we also expect to see a lot of novelties in terms of tech and convenience features, including a new-generation infotainment system, bigger screen, digital instrument cluster etc.
Considering that the new generation will probably come with similar dimensions, we may expect similar interior space as well. that’s definitely not a bad thing, considering that the outgoing model is already pretty generous in this aspect. It comes with very spacious two rows of seats, while the third row is also quite functional and spacious. The same can be said for the cargo area, which offers respectable numbers for the segment.
2024 Nissan Patrol Engine
Finally, there is the matter of powertrain, which will bring some pretty interesting changes. At this point, we still don’t know the exact details but we have no doubt that the current V8 will be replaced with something smaller and more efficient. Simply, although very capable, the current engine is one of the thirstiest units around, especially after Land Cruiser switched to the turbo V6.
So, we expect the same approach from Nissan. The replacement would come in the form of a turbocharged V6 and that could easily be an upgraded version of the new 3.8-liter V6. We presume that the max output could go around 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. Some sources speculate about the 3.0-liter twin-turbo from Infiniti Q50, but we feel a vehicle like Patrol would require something with a little bit more torque.
2024 Nissan Patrol Release Date
Although the officials are still quiet, we believe that the 2024 Nissan Patrol could arrive already in the second half of the next year.
