2023 BMW X8; More Than Rumor?

1731 0

The X8 has been in talks for years and if we can trust the latest reports, the time for the company’s new flagship model has finally come. After X7’s facelift, it looks like we are about to see a coupe iteration of BMW’s full-size SUV. That model would come as the 2023 BMW X8 and it would be the company’s most expensive SUV in the lineup.

At this point, the X8 is still waiting for official confirmation. However, if the Bavarian carmaker is about to launch such an SUV, we know what to expect from it. Of course, most of the parts would be shared with the X7, while the key difference would come on the rear end, where we expect to see that coupe-like layout.

Still, keep in mind that the officials are still quiet on this matter, so make sure to take the following paragraphs with a big reserve.

2023 BMW X8 Design

As we already mentioned, the 2023 BMW X8 would be the company’s new flagship model. As the officials are still quiet about it, the only thing we can do is speculate about it. Despite the lack of information, we know what to expect from the new flagship model. The mechanical aspect would be pretty much the same as in the X7. The new coupe SUV would be based on the company’s latest CLAR platform, with a wheelbase that goes way over 120 inches. The chassis setup wouldn’t bring bigger surprises and we would rather see a suspension that provides a familiar driving experience.

In terms of aesthetics, we would expect to see a lot of similarities with the recently –updated X7. The full-size SUV has just received a facelift, which has brought a lot of novelties. Of course, the most notable are those at the front, such as a bigger grille, narrower headlights, bigger air intakes etc. The 2023 BMW X8 would come with all these styling solutions, while the key difference would be at the rear end. There, we would expect to see a bit of a sloping roof design, which would provide that coupe-like look.

Interior

On the inside, the main difference would be in terms of the back of the cabin. Due to the sloping roof, the cargo area (which is already small for the segment) would offer less space. Also, we presume that the sloping roof would also compromise the third-row headroom. Considering that this row of seats is already very tight, many wonder if there is even a need for the third row in a coupe SUV like this.

On the other hand, the dashboard would look the same, and that also includes the recent updates. To remind you, the recent facelift brought a new dashboard design, highlighted by a couple of massive screens, which are designed in the same manner as those found in the iX all-electric SUV. We also saw a couple of revisions on the center stack, so there is no doubt that the 2023 BMW X8 would come with the same layout.

Features

The list of standard equipment would be really generous. Besides the aforementioned screens, we presume that base models would come standard with goodies like quad-zone climate control, ambient lighting, keyless entry, sunroof, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, a 10-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, two USB ports, Bluetooth etc.

Higher trim levels would offer even more. Some of the things that come to our mind are power soft-closing doors, glass instrument controls, five-zone automatic climate control, heated and cooled cup holders, a larger moonroof with LED lighting, infotainment gesture control, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo, a rear-seat entertainment system, a driving information and video recorder etc.

2023 BMW X8 Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, we expect no surprises. The 2023 BMW X8 would come standard with a familiar 3.0-liter turbo inline-six, which has just been upgraded to 375 horsepower. The well-known 4.4-liter V8 is also expected, and we also expect to see a new version of it, which comes with a mild-hybrid setup. That model would come as the X8 M60i, and it would feature a max output of 523 horsepower.

Finally, we count on the Alpina version, which would use the upgraded version of the V8 engine, with a max output of 630 horsepower.

All engines would come in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.

2023 BMW X8 Release Date and Price

The arrival of the 2023 BMW X8 is still uncertain. While the officials are still quiet, unofficial reports suggest that this model could arrive already in the next year. If it arrives, we presume that the starting price would go between 85.000 and 90.000 dollars.
