2024 BMW X1 Gets M Treatment
For the first time, the X1 will get the M treatment in North America. The Bavarian company has just presented the M35i version for this part of the world. Upgrades over standard models will be significant. Of course, you will notice visual enhancements first but more importantly, there is a good portion of mechanical upgrades. First of all, there is the engine –the familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four has been upgraded to 312 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard, just like the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, as well as a limited-slip differential.
Speaking of the M treatment, things go beyond power upgrades and include suspension and chassis modifications as well. Adaptive dampers are also part of the standard equipment, while coated brakes are available.

The simplistic cabin is highlighted by a massive set of screens, which replace physical controls almost completely. Moreover, even the BMW’s well-known rotary knob is gone and the infotainment is operated completely through touch-sensitive controls.
Besides pleasant aesthetics, this cabin also offers a lot of passenger space. Both rows of seats are spacious enough to accommodate adult passengers. The front seats are massive and supportive, perfect for longer journeys and the rear seats aren’t much worse at all. As for the cargo area, the numbers are actually pretty impressive for the class. This SUV offers around 25.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and 57.2 cubic feet in total.
Features
The second production year shouldn’t bring any major changes in this aspect. Moreover, we are pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same. Therefore, base versions are expected to come standard with goodies like a 10.7-inch touch screen, a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, a seven-speaker audio system, four USB ports, dual-zone climate control, push-button start etc.
Among upgrades, expect to find wireless device charging, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, remote keyless entry, remote start, a digital key, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, an interior overhead camera and a panoramic sunroof.
As for safety features, base models should come standard with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams and many more. As for the upgrades, count on things like reverse collision warning, reverse automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, head-up display, traffic jam assist, surround-view camera and many more.
2024 BMW X1 Release Date and Price
The 2024 BMW X1 will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 40.000 dollars. As for the new M35i, we already know it will cost slightly under 51.000 dollars. Key competitors are Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA, Volvo XC40 etc.
