You can’t be too old, at least not when you are a Lexus. This seems like a good description of the current generation of the brand’s mid-size SUV, which has been on the market since 2009. Not only that it is still active, but it makes pretty good sales numbers. Logically, the company doesn’t rush with the redesign and if we consider the last year’s addition of new tech features, it’s quite obvious that it will remain in production for some more time. This also means that the 2023 Lexus GX is about to carry on in the same way, with familiar design and features.

So, we expect to see a familiar layout, which has been updated a few times but which hasn’t significantly changed for more than 12 years. However, it still has a lot of things to offer, starting from strong off-performances, great build quality and lots of modern tech features.

As bigger changes probably won’t happen, we presume that the 2023 Lexus GX will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Lexus GX Design

Design-wise, we don’t expect to see any particular changes. The 2023 Lexus GX will continue with the same design, which has been updated a few times during this long production cycle. Therefore, it’s no wonder that it follows the brand’s contemporary design language and still looks pretty attractive.

Still, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle hasn’t changed much. As a result, the ride quality may not be at the same level as much younger rivals. This refers to the on-road ride. On the other hand, things are completely different off the road, where this model is still one of the key players on the market.

Speaking of off-road performances, there is the optional Off-Road performance, which includes features like crawl control, a fuel tank skid plate, enhanced transmission cooling, and a surround-view camera with front-view mode, five selectable drive modes etc.

Interior

This aspect largely depends on your perspective. On one side, the dashboard is a decade old, so it doesn’t come with fancy tech features and similar things. On the other hand, its classic design made it age pretty well, so older generations will probably like this interior. What’s impressive without any doubt is the build quality, as well as the materials, which come in a typical Lexus fashion.

2023 Lexus GX 460 Interior

The GX comes with three rows of seats. However, due to the relatively short wheelbase, the third row isn’t particularly generous with space. On the other hand, the first two rows accommodate adults with ease. When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 11.6 cubic feet behind the third row, 46.7 cubic feet behind the second and 65 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

Features

Although the 2023 Lexus GX might come with a couple of new standard features, most of the things will certainly remain the same. Therefore, all models should come standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, a 10.3-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, a nine-speaker stereo, voice recognition, Bluetooth, satellite radio, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, four USB ports, and navigation. Among upgrades, expect to find things like tri-zone climate control, 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system etc.

When it comes to safety, all models will come standard with a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection etc. The list of options should include a couple of things, such as rain-sensing windshield wipers, surround-view camera etc.

2023 Lexus GX Engine

Things under the hood definitely won’t change. You may count on a good-old 4.6-liter V8 engine, which puts out around 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough for convenient dynamics, while the engine is also pretty refined and durable. It comes in pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty good job too.

Still, this powertrain isn’t perfect. It features a pretty low fuel economy, which goes around 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.

2023 Lexus GX Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Lexus GX will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 56.000 dollars. Models like Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery may be considered as some of the key competitors.
