2023 Nissan Patrol Redesign: Rumors and Expectations

2990 0

Despite the recent update, the fact that the current generation of Nissan’s legendary full-size SUV has been around for nearly 12 years is a clear indicator that the redesign will happen soon. Another indicator of the redesign is the latest report that suggests a completely new engine for the 2023 Nissan Patrol. Allegedly, the Patrol will follow the example of the new Land Cruiser 300 and replace the old V8 with a twin-turbo V6. At this point, we are still waiting to hear something from the officials.

In any case, we count on a lot of novelties from the next generation, which is expected to arrive by the end of the next year. Of course, the new design is one of the things that come to mind, even though we are pretty sure that the new model will continue to ride on the good-old F-Alpha platform. A new interior is expected as well, along with a full load of new tech features.

2023 Nissan Patrol Will Drop Old V8

One of the biggest changes for the next year will happen under the hood. Nissan will follow Toyota’s example and get rid of the good-old V8 and replace it with a twin-turbo V6. In that way, it will significantly improve fuel economy and meet the latest emission standards. Furthermore, we expect to see a little bit more power and torque.

The current model uses a 5.6-liter V8, which puts out around 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. Details about the new turbo V6 are still unknown, though we know it’s been in development for a while. It may be a turbocharged version of the new 3.8-liter V6 found in the new Frontier. Still,  some sources also speculate about a displacement of 3.5 liters. We also expect to see a new transmission, probably a new 9-speed automatic.

Of course, we count on many other things from this redesign. The list of novelties will be long but interestingly, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Nissan Patrol will continue to ride on the F-Alpha platform, even though the new model will be codenamed Y63. Naturally, we expect to see various updates, starting from the improved suspension setup. It will ensure smoother and more comfortable on-road ride quality.

Furthermore, a new exterior design is another thing we expect to see. As you probably know, the current generation has been updated not so long ago and it now looks great. Therefore, we don’t believe that the 2023 Nissan Patrol would bring more than evolutionary changes. We expect to see further development of the company’s well-known V-Motion grille design, along with some fresh aesthetics.

Interior

Novelties on the inside will come as well. At this point, we can tell how exactly the new dashboard is going to look but we can say that the current one definitely belongs to another era of the automotive industry. That’s why we expect significant changes. We expect that the new model will go more upscale and offer a cabin that utilizes even finer materials and also comes with even better quality. Naturally, we also expect to see lots of new tech features, starting from a new infotainment screen, a new digital instrument cluster and lots of driver-assistance features.

The seating configuration will remain the same. You may count on three rows of seats and as we don’t believe that bigger changes in size could happen, the amount of passenger room shouldn’t be much different either.

At this point, the officials are still quiet about the new Patrol. On the other hand, we can hear rumors that the 2023 Nissan Patrol will hit the market in the second half of the next year. On the other hand, we believe that the current-generation Armada will remain in production for a few more years.
