The current generation of Volvo’s compact crossover has been around since 2018. It may not be the freshest model in the segment but it still has a few more good years before it receives a complete overhaul. The new generation won’t be coming for another few years and if we consider that 2022 refresh, it’s pretty much for sure that the 2024 Volvo XC60 will come without more important upgrades. We expect to see a familiar layout, with familiar design and features.
Therefore, you may count on an SUV that still looks nice from the outside and features one of the most elegant interiors in the class. It is a well-equipped machine, with an intuitive infotainment system and lots of connectivity features. Powertrain options are very capable, while handling feels quite composed. All in all, this model holds pretty well against the competition and there aren’t any major drawbacks we can find to complain about.
With all that said, we presume that the 2024 Volvo XC60 won’t arrive before the last quarter of the year.
2024 Volvo XC60 Design
The 2024 Volvo XC60 will continue without more important changes. It will come with a familiar design, which was originally introduced in 2018 but which was also updated for the 2022 model year. That refresh brought a few styling updates, though the overall appearance didn’t change significantly. Therefore, the next year’s model won’t feature more important updates, though we won’t exclude the possibility to see minor tweaks, such as new color options.
In terms of mechanics, this is a Typical Volvo, based on the familiar SPA platform. The SUV offers a balanced chassis and suspension setup, offering a ride quality that is both comfortable and engaging. Of course, it won’t blast your mind with its handling but the level of athleticism is decent enough to satisfy most of the drivers.
Interior
This is one of the areas where this SUV really shines. It features one of the nicest cabins in the class, characterized by a very elegant cabin layout. The dashboard features clean lines and quite a minimalistic design, which is complemented by high-quality materials and great precision. Furthermore, there is a pretty generous offer of tech features, which blend pretty nicely with the overall interior aesthetics.
As for the passenger space, the front seats are massive. They offer a great level of comfort and work perfectly on long journeys. They also feature good side support, to keep your body fixed in cornets. The amount of space is very generous and the second row isn’t any less impressive. It can accommodate three adults with ease, which isn’t always the case in the segment.
Finally, there is the cargo area, one of the most generous in the class. You may count on about 22.4 cubic feet of room behind the back row and 63.3 cubic feet in total.
Features
We expect no significant changes in this aspect, though there is always room for a couple of novelties. All in all, things should be pretty similar to the current model year, which comes standard with goodies like a 9-inch touch screen, a 10-speaker stereo, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, Bluetooth, Google-based navigation, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, remote keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control and a panoramic moonroof. The list of options includes things like a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, quad-zone automatic climate control etc.
As for safety, the current model already comes fully loaded. It comes standard with a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, traffic-sign recognition, rain-sensing windshield wipers etc. Also, there are a few options that could easily become part of the standard equipment, such as a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control and head-up display.
2024 Volvo XC60 Engines
As for the powertrain, we expect the 2024 Volvo XC60 to continue in three familiar variants. Base models should continue with a familiar turbo-four, which puts out around 247 horsepower and offers pretty decent driving dynamics. The same turbo-four is available in a variant that includes an additional supercharger. Such an upgrade provides extra horsepower, so the max output is rated at 295 horsepower.
Finally, there is the company’s well-known plug-in hybrid setup, which received a massive power upgrade a few years ago. The max output now goes all away up to 455 horsepower, which makes the XC60 one of the quickest models in the class. Furthermore, the battery has been improved and now offers a pretty respectable 35 miles of all-electric range.
2024 Volvo XC60 Release Date and Price
With no significant updates to come, we presume that the 2024 Volvo XC60 is about to hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year. Base versions should cost around 45.000 dollars. As for the competition, there are models like BMW X3, Audi Q5, Acura RDX and many others.
