The 2024 Toyota RAV4 will represent the sixth production year of the current generation and if we can trust the latest reports, there will be no significant changes. Namely, sources like Autoevolution suggest a full redesign already for the next year, which means that this could easily be the final production year of the generation. If that’s the plan, we have even more reason to expect no bigger changes. Still, some rumors speculate about Toyota ditching the gasoline version, which would leave a hybrid powertrain on offer only.
All this means that the next year’s model will bring familiar design and features. The current generation has been around since 2018 and it still looks surprisingly fresh. Also, it offers decent ride quality, along with a well-equipped and well-built cabin. Still, the model’s key strength is excellent fuel economy, no matter the powertrain choice. Some variants are even quite peppy and offer pretty quick acceleration.
With no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2024 Toyota RAV4 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2024 Toyota RAV4 Design
As mentioned, this could easily be the final production year of the generation. Therefore, we expect no bigger changes. We are about a familiar layout, based on Toyota’s contemporary GA platform, which offers a good mix of advanced technologies and simplicity, which has always been Toyota’s thing, something that ensures excellent reliability scores.
The RAV4 offers pretty good ride quality. It’s not the sportier model in the class, but handling feels quite composed. At the same time, the ride is smooth and comfortable and makes this SUV quite pleasant on longer journeys. As for the styling, there is nothing to complain about. The current model still looks attractive even though we haven’t seen a mid-cycle refresh of the current generation. The next year’s model could potentially bring only minor updates, such as new color options, and maybe a new appearance package.
Interior
Just like the exterior, the inside of the 2024 Toyota RAV4 shouldn’t bring any more notable changes. Instead, we expect to see a familiar design, which still looks nice, despite its age. Of course, younger competitors like Hyundai Tucson and Honda CR-V look notably more upscale, but this cabin is far from bad. The materials are nice, while the clean dashboard design ensured this dash ages with style. Furthermore, there is still a respectable amount of tech and safety features.
As for the passenger space, the front seats are supportive and comfortable. We also like the driving position very much, whether it’s about ergonomics or aesthetics. The rear seats are also very comfortable and can accommodate three adults pretty easily. The cargo area offers 37.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 69.8 cubic feet of the total volume, which is above average for the segment.
Features
We might see a few minor tweaks in this aspect, but most things should remain the same. Therefore, base models will already come with a long list of tech features. Things like an 8-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, the ”Hey Toyota” virtual assistant, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, three USB ports, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster with an analog tachometer, remote keyless entry and automatic climate control will be standard.
On the other hand, higher trim levels should come with goodies like a 10.5-inch touch screen, wireless device charging, an 11-speaker stereo, a 120-volt household-style power outlet and two additional USB ports, as well as a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof and ambient lighting.
2024 Toyota RAV4 Engines
As we’ve just mentioned, some sources suggest that Toyota might ditch the gasoline version. If that happens, the next year’s model would come with hybrid powertrains only. However, the officials are still quiet about the future of the gasoline version, which features a 2.5-liter inline-four. That engine offers 203 horsepower, as well as pretty good fuel economy, up to 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, which is great for the class.
On the other hand, hybrid models will certainly continue in the same way. We are talking about the well-known system that puts out around 219 horsepower and returns a pretty impressive 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. Finally, there is the plug-in hybrid version, known as RAV4 Prime, which features 302 horsepower and a pretty impressive 42 miles of the all-electric range.
2024 Toyota RAV4 Release Date and Price
As there should be no bigger changes, we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year. The price should also remain pretty much the same as for the current model, which starts at around 28.000 dollars.
