Although it seems like it came out yesterday, the current generation of Toyota’s compact crossover is actually getting close to the end of its production cycles. According to the latest reports, the 2025 Toyota RAV4 will be the model year that debuts with all-new design and, logically, we expect to see all kinds of novelties. At this point, details are still unavailable but, as we are talking about the most popular SUV in the world, it’s not a surprise that there are already tons of unofficial reports, suggesting all kinds of changes.
Of course, we will rely on some of them, but we will also make some predictions about the next-generation RAV4. The redesign is expected to be quite comprehensive but considering the model’s popularity, we don’t believe we could see anything radical. The current model has already been made almost to perfection, so it’s obvious this will is going to be just an evolution.
2025 Toyota RAV4 Redesign
The title of the world’s most popular SUV is a great honor, but also a great responsibility for Toyota engineers. What to change to make the new model even better? It’s much easier to deliver a disappointment than another highly praised model, so we have no doubt that Toyota is approaching with great caution one of its most important models.
That’s why we are pretty sure that the changes will mostly be evolutionary. In terms of mechanics, we presume that the new 2025 Toyota RAV4 is going to ride on some kind of updated TNGA platform. We could see some revisions on the suspension and chassis setup because, if there is one thing to complain about the outgoing model, that’s the fact that it could be a little bit more fun to drive.
As for the aesthetics, it’s still easy to make predictions, even though the first digital rendering appeared on the internet. Toyota pretty much nailed the design of the outgoing generation, so it will be pretty hard to repeat such an execution. That’s also another reason to believe that the changes are about to be nothing but evolutionary.
Interior
On the other hand, things aren’t all that tricky when it comes to interior design. The current cabin looks nice but it would definitely use updates because the competition is starting to look more upscale. Just look at the key rivals, such as the Honda CR-V and Nissan Rogue, which both feature nicer materials, more attractive designs and offer more luxury. Toyota must follow that path to remain relevant in the class.
Besides the new dashboard design and new tech features, we presume the new model is about to come with a full load of safety features, including the company’s latest Safety Sense 3.0, with the latest versions of the well-known systems. This suite is already coming with the next-generation 2024 Tacoma, so we expect the same thing with the RAV4.
As for the interior space, the current model is typical for the class. It is neither the tightest nor the most spacious model in the class and we presume that the Japanese designers will aim for something similar in the 2025 Toyota RAV4. Still, a few more cubic inches of the cargo area are always welcome.
2025 Toyota RAV4 Engines
As for the powertrain, we expect that the 2025 Toyota RAV4 will continue to expand the range of electrified models, even though base versions could still rely on gas-only setups. However, we presume that the 2.5-liter inline-four could be replaced with something turbocharged, probably the newer-generation 2.4-liter turbo-four.
The rest of the lineup will come with some sort of electrification, starting from the company’s well-known self-charging system based on a 2.5-liter inline-four. Despite being in use for years, this system still has a lot to show, so we are pretty sure it will remain on offer.
A plug-in hybrid will come too, but we are not sure if it’s going to feature the same but upgraded version of the current 302-horsepower system, or something new. In any case, we count on a little bit more power and an even more impressive EV range, which is currently at 42 miles.
Finally, we won’t exclude the possibility of seeing another hybrid version, based on a turbo-four engine. When it comes to full electrification, we might see an all-electric RAV4 at some point in the future, but we are not sure if it would be ready for the initial launch.
2025 Toyota RAV4 Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2025 Toyota RAV4 will arrive sometime in the next year, most likely in the second quarter. When it comes to the price, we could see a slight increase compared to the outgoing model, which starts at around 28.000 dollars.
