2024 Dodge Durango: Preview, Specs, Features

Some things are old well, and we can now say for sure that the Dodge Durango is one of them. The current generation of this mid-size SUV was introduced way back in 2011 and despite a couple of updates, the overall design is still the same. What’s more impressive, this is still a highly competitive model, which still has so many great things to offer. That’s why the company doesn’t rush with the redesign, even though the next generation is in development and it should come in a year or two. Meanwhile, the 2024 Dodge Durango will most likely feature no bigger changes. It will offer a familiar design and features.

All this means that you may expect an SUV that offers an impressive powertrain lineup. The Durango is also praised for its towing capacity, while the cabin offers generous amounts of passenger and cargo space. Despite its age, the SUV has been updated with the latest infotainment system a few years ago, so even this aspect of the vehicle is still competitive.

We expect that the 2024 Dodge Durango will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2024 Dodge Durango Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Dodge Durango will carry on in the same way. The current generation has been around for a pretty long time and it hasn’t changed much through all these year. The styling still looks familiar, despite a few updates we saw. The familiar appearance is still there and we could say that it still looks pretty nice, 13 years after the launch.

On the other hand, where this SUV shows a little bit of age is the chassis and suspension setup. The ride is smooth and comfortable but this SUV is also very heavy and, therefore, it isn’t as athletic as the new generation of Grand Cherokee, for example. However, all that is compensated by an impressive range of capable powertrain options, which we will talk about in a moment.

2024 Dodge Durango Engines

One of the things we always liked most about the Durango was its impressive powertrain lineup. The 2024 Dodge Durango will be no different and we expect to see the same offer as for the 2023 model. All in all, base models should come with a good-old 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The first upgrade comes in the form of a 5.7-liter HEMI V8, which is good for about 360 horsepower.

The offer continues with two super-capable V8 engines. One of them is the 6.4-liter HEMI with 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the monstrous 6.2-liter Supercharged Hellcat sits at the top of the offer, with a max output of around 710 horsepower.

As for the transmission, all models use the same, smooth and super-refined 8-speed automatic transmission.

Interior

The Durango’s interior received an update a few years ago, and the current model still looks quite nice, even though there was a pretty modest update that was mostly about the new infotainment system and other tech features. All in all, the cabin still looks nice and the overall build quality is at a decent level. So, there is really no major thing to complain about.

2024 Dodge Durango Interior

Base models feature two rows of seats and accommodate five passengers, but you can also opt for the third row of seats. The front row is pretty spacious and comfortable, and the same is with the second row, which accommodates three adults with ease. The third row is a little bit tighter, but that’s a typical thing for the segment.

The cargo area is good for about 17.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 43.3 cubic feet with these seats folded and a sizable 85.1 cubic feet in total, which is good for the class.

Features

We don’t expect to see major differences in this aspect. So, base models should come standard with goodies like an 8.4-inch touch screen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, Bluetooth and four USB ports, as well as a 7-inch digital gauge cluster with an analog tachometer, tri-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry and push-button start.

As for the upgrades, there are many features you can opt for. Some of the highlights are a 10.1-inch touch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, navigation, wireless device charging, HD Radio, nine- and 19-speaker sound systems, a 120-volt household-style power outlet, two additional USB ports, remote start, a sunroof and many more.
