The overcrowded segment of compact SUVs is more competitive than ever and that’s why the Blue Oval company brought a significant refresh for the 2023 model year. We saw a completely new styling, along with new tech features and other updates, so there’s no doubt that the Blue Oval company plans to keep the current generation in production for a few more years. This also means that the 2024 Ford Escape shouldn’t feature bigger changes, though we won’t exclude the possibility to see minor updates, such as new standard and available features.
All in all, you may count on an SUV that has a couple of pretty good things to offer. We like the variety of powertrain options on offer, including a couple of pretty efficient hybrid versions. Furthermore, the cabin is spacious and comfortable, and come with a decent amount of standard and available equipment. Finally, there is the driving experience, which seems quite engaging for a vehicle of this type and size.
Since there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
2024 Ford Escape Design
So, the 2024 Ford Escape will come only a year after the major refresh, so we don’t believe bigger changes could happen. Instead, we count on a familiar design, which received massive updates recently and now features a completely new design. Most of the changes happened at the front, where you can see goodies like new headlights, grille and bumper, which all look bolder and more aggressive than before. The rear end also comes with changes that follow the same design approach.
In terms of mechanics, we definitely don’t expect to see any updates. We expect to see a familiar layout, with the same chassis and suspension setup, which provide pretty engaging handling, not Mazda CX-5 level of athleticism but still quite decent.
Interior
Just like the exterior, the interior design shouldn’t come with any notable changes. Instead, we expect to see a familiar layout, with a cabin design that looks okay, though not as upscale as most rivals. Still, the build quality is good and promises years of exploitation. Also, the recent update brought new tech and convenience features, which make this car more functional and more luxurious than before.
Besides decent build quality and lots of standard and available equipment, this model also offers a pretty good amount of passenger and cargo space. Typically for the class, both rows are spacious enough to accommodate adults with ease. The cargo area offers around 37.5 cubic feet of room behind the rear seats and 65.4 cubic feet of the total volume. The hybrid offers around 30 cubic feet behind the second row and 60 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
Features
We don’t believe that the next year’s model could bring more important changes in this aspect. So, the list of standard features should be pretty similar to the current model, which offers some basic features like steel wheels and cloth upholstery, but also comes with goodies like an 8-inch touchscreen, six-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Wi-Fi hotspot etc. There is also a pretty generous offer of standard safety features, which includes a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert , lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beams etc.
Of course, there is also a generous offer of optional features, such as alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, satellite radion, 13.2-inch infotainment system, wireless charging, navigation, power-adjustable driver’s seat etc.
2024 Ford Escape Engines
The powertrain lineup will remain the same, so the offer would start with a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, which puts out around 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. For those who look for a more engaging ride, there is a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower. Both units come with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
There are two more, hybrid powertrain options on offer. The first one is a classic, self-charging hybrid that combines an inline-four engine with a single electric motor and offers a max output of 200 horsepower. There is also a plug-in hybrid version, equipped with the same gasoline engine but a much bigger, 14.4-kWh battery, and a more capable electric motor, for a total output of 210 horsepower. Also, this version offers a pretty respectable range in the EV mode, which goes up to 37 miles.
2024 Ford Escape Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Ford Escape will arrive in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 27.500 dollars. Hybrid models should be available at around 33.000 dollars. The competition is tough, and some of the key players in the segment are Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue etc.
