2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart Brings Memories Back

Today, Mitsubishi is primarily known for SUVs and crossovers, vehicles that are practical and reliable, but not particularly engaging to drive. However, things weren’t always like that. A few decades ago, this company was producing several amazing sports cars. The Galant and Lancer were legendary rally cars, while Pajero was dominating the Dakar rally. Well, it looks like some of this is actually coming back. The Japanese manufacturer will finally get an interesting model in its lineup, a model called the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart, which will be a performance version of the company’s well-known compact SUV.

Back in the day, this moniker was used for models that celebrated the company’s success in WRC. Today, this is gound to be an upgraded variant of the standard Outlander. The company already presented the Vision Ralliart concept last year and we presume that the production version will be heavily based on it.

Sales should start sometime in the second half of the year.

2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart Design

As we’ve just mentioned, this is going to be an upgraded version of the standard model. Upgrades are expected in various aspects, starting from aesthetics. Many parts will be borrowed from the Vision Ralliart concept. This includes goodies like a unique grille design, new wheels, a new body kit and much more. All these parts are exclusive and accentuate the model’s high-performance character but we won’t be surprised if the production model offers even more upgrades than the concept. Eventually, we presume some exclusive color options are about to be offered.

This won’t be just a fancy-looking, wannabe performer. It will come with some important upgrades under the skin, starting from the suspension setup. This model is stiffer and sits lower to the ground, which should provide better ride quality. The chassis is expected to get additional reinforcements, while new brakes are coming too.

Interior

As for the interior design, the base approach, of course, won’t be much different compared to the standard model. The overall look will be the same, while the catch is going to be in detail. We presume that the overall design philosophy will follow the way the exterior is upgraded. Compared to the standard Outlander, the key differences should be in terms of different color schemes, different choices of materials, upgraded steering wheel, pedals, new instrument cluster etc.

The rest of the cabin design, on the other hand, will remain kinda familiar. The current generation looks very nice in this aspect and feels way more luxurious compared to the previous generation. One of the changes we could say is the removal of the third row, which is standard in most versions of the SUV.

Features

It is still early to go into detail but it’s easy to presume that, as a range-topping model, the 2024 Mitsubishi Raliart is going to feature a full load of standard equipment. Of course, we still can’t know for sure. We believe that the list of standard equipment could include a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless device charging, a 10-speaker Bose premium stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio etc. Also, we expect to see a new 12.3—inch digital instrument cluster, along with tri-zone climate control, and maybe even a panoramic sunroof.

The same thing is with safety features. So, things like automatic high beams, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection and rear cross-traffic alert should all be part of the standard equipment.

It wouldn’t make much sense to see all those exclusive features and the “Ralliart” badge without a proper powertrain. That’s why we are happy that this will be the most powerful Outlander in the lineup. It will feature a familiar plug-in hybrid system, based on a 2.4-liter inline-four engine. Compared to the standard version, this one will come with a notable 38-hp power boost. So, instead of 248, this model will feature a max output of  286 horsepower, which is only 16 horsepower less than the RAV4 Prime.

The system also includes a massive 20-kWh battery pack, which ensures up to 38 miles of range in standard models. We don’t expect many different numbers in this version either. For comparison, the RAV4 Prime offers up to 42 miles of all-electric range.

2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart Release Date and Price

It is still early for a more precise launch date, but we expect that the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart could arrive already this fall. It would be the most expensive Outlander on offer, and we estimate a starting price of around 50.000 dollars.
