2024 Ford Transit, and E-Transit Custom Van: Release Date, Specs, and Price

The new generation of Ford’s well-known van is coming. The new model will bring a lot of novelties, not just in terms of design, but also in terms of new powertrain options, which will include an all-electric version as well. From what we know so far, the new model is ready to hit the market in the second half of the year, as the 2024 Ford Transit, and it will bring not just improved performance, but notable improvement in terms of design, comfort and convenience.

Namely, there is the new styling, as well as the new cabin design, which comes with a new layout and new tech features. Just like the outgoing version, the new model will be offered in a variety of configurations regarding body style, while the announced all-electric version will offer a level of performance that’s on par with diesel counterparts, without sacrificing interior space and usability.

2024 Ford Transit Design

So, this will be the new generation of Ford’s well-known van. The first thing you can notice is the new styling, which follows the brand’s latest philosophy and makes this van look pretty attractive. There are new headlights, a new grille and many more, while the new, all-electric 2024 Ford E-Transit  Custom comes with a couple of exclusive styling details, particularly in terms of the grille design.

Just like the previous generation, the new model will also be offered in a variety of body styles, such as the standard panel van, the double-cab-in-van, the kombi, and the L-shaped bulkhead. You can also choose between different two wheelbases/lengths and two heights. The passenger version is expected in the near future as well.

On the inside, you can notice the new dashboard, which is highlighted by a massive 13-inch infotainment screen. However, we only know that this massive screen will be reserved for the highest trim level. It’s still unclear which unit will be used in lower trim levels.

2024 Ford Transit Goes All-Electric

As we’ve just mentioned, the Blue Oval company has just introduced the all-electric version of this van, called the 2024 Ford E-Transit Custom. This model is characterized by a different grille compared to ICE models, while it’s also worth mentioning that it comes standard with independent rear suspension.

When it comes to the drivetrain, there will be two variants on offer. Base models will feature 135 horsepower, while more capable variants will be good for 217 horsepower. In both cases, the max torque will be 380Nm, which will ensure respectable payload capacity, which will go up to 1100 kilograms, while the max towing will go up to 2000kg.

This 2024 Ford Transit will use the same battery pack as the F-150 Lightning, with 74kW of capacity. That should be enough for the max range of around 380 kilometers. Also, you may count on 125kW charging power, which means that charging from 15 to 80 percent should take around 40 minutes with the fast charger.

2024 Ford Transit Engines

Despite the new all-electric version, the new 2024 Ford Transit will mostly rely on proven diesel units. Of course, we are talking about the well-known 2.0-liter EcoBlue turbodiesel, which will be offered in a variety of versions, regarding max output. It comes in variants with 109 hp, 134 hp, 148 hp, or 168 hp. What’s also good to know is that base models will come with a 6-speed manual, as well as a limited-slip differential. Also, you will have the opportunity to opt for an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

Finally, the Blue Oval Company will offer a plug-in hybrid system, with the same setup as Ford Kuga PHEV. This means that the 2024 Ford Transit will feature a system that consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, for a combined output of 222 horsepower. The system also includes an 11.8-kWh battery pack, which should ensure up to 57km of range in the EV mode.

We expect that the 2024 Ford Transit will arrive sometime in the second half of the year. Some of the key competitors will be models like Mercedes-Benz Vito, Fiat Ducato etc.
